There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about my work. I hope you enjoy our site and take a moment to drop us a line.
Drawing and painting is as important as breathing. My life cannot exist without inhaling the creative aroma which is called art.
The subjects for my work are not limited to a specific venue; though I lean more towards representing the human figure, landscape, animals, and farm life. For several years I have been working on a series created around the poultry house. It began as a way to discover the hidden beauty within the confines of the farm. through this series I have gained a better appreciation and understanding for what is there.
My choice of medium and technique reflects my personality and my desire to capture moments. The quick drying time of acrylics paints are not frustrating. ON the contrary, it is desired and allows me to lay in a new color or a broad stroke without the fear of disturbing the previous layer. Soft pastels and charcoal are such lovely dry mediums. I enjoy the tactual sensation of moving the medium around on the paper; pushing or pulling it in the direction it needs to go.
I work mostly in acrylics and oils. I also work in soft pastels, charcoal, and watercolors.
My body of work reflects the influences of several masters, a few contemporaries and some local friends. Toulouse-Lautrec, Vincent van Gogh, and Egar Degas ae masters I admire; especially Degar's pastel work and van Gogh wild use of color. My use of broad quick strokes can be attuned to Georg Baselitz and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Kate Worm, Steve Brooks, and Clay James inspire me as well. For several years I painted in open studio with Worm, Brooks and James. Sharing with and learning from them new ways to do and to see. .
